Somehow, it is 2021. To say this caught me off-guard is an understatement. I was so wrapped up in the 2020ness of 2020 that I nearly forgot about what January 1st meant for me: a new book! Getting to escape back to Seal Cove this past year was one of the only bright spots in the midst of grief and uncertainty. Contrary to the image I occasionally put out on social media, I do love my characters (which doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy playing sadistic writer), and I’m especially attached to this bunch. Flawed as they are, the women in this series are a pleasure to spend time with.
Night Tide is an enemies-to-lovers romance with the burner turned way up. I wanted to take my most sensible character, Lillian, and completely wreck her. As I thought about what would unhinge her most, forcing her to take a look at her preconceived notions of world and self, I decided I needed to challenge the thing she values most: stability. This felt especially relatable after this past year!
Currently, Night Tide is available for an exclusive early release through my publisher, Bywater Books. The official release date is January 26, and stay tuned for details about a joint launch party celebrating Night Tide and Rachel Spangler’s new book, Modern English.
Tides change, but some feelings can’t be washed away.
Lillian Lee doesn’t believe in love at first sight. Hate is a different story–and one she is intimately familiar with. Luckily, she hasn’t seen her arch-nemesis, Ivy Holden, since graduating from veterinary school five years ago. Since then, while her life isn’t going exactly according to plan, she’s happy. She has great friends, a job she loves, and the best pets in the world. Most importantly, her life is stable.
Seal Cove, Maine, is the last place Ivy Holden ever expected to end up. But when an unexpected medical condition forces her to relocate to be closer to family, she can’t turn down the opportunity. Her new job at Seal Cove Veterinary Clinic has everything she needs: flexibility, proximity to her family’s summer home, and the chance to do the work she loves. Unfortunately, it also has Lillian Lee.
Thrown back into one another’s orbits, Lillian and Ivy must find a way to work together, despite the treacherous emotions threatening to drown them both.
